Delayed EFT payment

I am a Standard Bank and FNB customer. Yesterday morning an EFT payment was made to my FNB account from the Nelson Mandela Metro University. To my knowledge, EFT payments made from standard bank to FNB usually take a few hours if done before 15:00 and longer if the payment was done after 3pm. I was expecting the money to have reflected into my account around midnight, which is usually the case when EFT are made into my account from standard bank. Standard to ABSA is almost always on the same day, why is this different with FNB. I'm not quite sure where the delay is, where does the money go because it's definitely not with FNB. Its been more than 24hours now. The sole purpose behind internet banking is that it should be convenient, quick and hassle-free else we would all be standing in queues at the banks.
