Today I spent almost two hours doing shopping at Pick n Pay at the corner of William Nicol & Republic but when I went to the cue I was informed that Standard Bank was offline but I could pay with any other bank. Since I do not have any other cards, I decided to still wait the extra 15-20 minutes to see if my transaction would go through since I had already spent so much time in this store and went there specifically for some items. But the transaction did not come through although it did go through on my mobile app and the same applied to the next shop I tried. I had the same experience over Christmas when I was trying to finalise my Christmas shopping no 24 December but was unable to pay at Wollies although the transaction had gone off my account. I spent about 30 minutes on the phone that day speaking to the Customer Care Service informing my that they were having problems with their system and there was nothing they could do about this. What saved me (and the Christmas) that day was that my husband banks with FNB and was able to make the payment on his cards. This is about the 10th (not all on Hello Peter) and my last complaint with Standard Bank. I am also done with them.
