I experienced serious problems when Discovery Insure failed on two occasions to provide me with a rental car (as provided for in my contract) after my vehicle was damaged in an accident. Finally, after having been left stranded by Discovery and Avis, I had to arrange my own rental vehicle. After a dispute with Discovery over the payment of the rental for the vehicle, Discovery finally agreed to pay the rental. I then collected my vehicle from the panelbeater to discover that Discovery had not informed the panel beater that an amount from my excess funder account was to have been offset against the amount due. I was then obliged to pay the full excess. After emails to Daryl Grater and Charlene Davids - and sendin proof of the amount paid - I was assured that the extra excess would be refunded to me within 72 hours. A week later and I am still waiting! I have cautioned Discovery that I would be approaching the Ombudsman and now after this ridiculous service I will be proceeding with this complaint. I think that it is also time to find another insurance company. It is extremely frustrating that you find out the true nature of an insurance company when you need them most!
