Dear Peter, Last month I received a call from Real People Cellular informing me of a cellular account in arrears. I advised I have never opened an account with them as I didn't even know they existed until they called me. I called their customer service and spoke to a consultant by the name of Betty Lingem who was very rude to me as I was hoping to get more information on this. Eventually I requested to speak to the supervisor, Maya who advised me to do an affidavit stating the account belongs to me and sign 6x on a page. I have e-mailed evrything back to them but they do not show any interest in assisting me. The delivery confirmation of the phone they sent to me reflects an address somewhere in Pretoria and the signature is nowhere close to mine. I request that Real People absolve me of all charges on the account, and that they take all appropriate steps to remove information about this account from my credit files / ITC immediately. They have failed to put the correct controls in place for such risks and yet their service to the victim is dreadful. I can not even apply for a bond because of Real people's negligence.
