Recently FNB produced an outstanding advertising campaign. It allowed our youth, the future of our country to have a voice, for them to say what they believe are the issues facing South Africa. Their thoughts were pertinent, insightful and constructive.
Predictably, this produced a knee- reaction from our ruling party. It's treason, they frothed. It will destroy our country, they foamed. Investors will leave in droves, they raved.
All this clucking and bleating frightened FNB terribly. Rather than standing up to be counted, they grovelled. Because the youth are, well, young, they were effectively told by FNB to shut up; their thoughts were not important, their perceptions were all wrong and they should immediately address their white tendencies. The should bow to their rulers, their naked emperor (I do not here refer to "The Spear").
I wish for Sizwe Nxasana and FNB to address this huge injustice. I call on FNB to rise from their belly, remove their head from the nether regions of our revered leaders and see if they can locate their spine.
Instead of apologizing to the ANC, FNB should apologize for the huge insult to our future leaders and captains of industry.
