I have had a savings account with Absa for over 20 years. I'm going to NZ at the end of the year so I decided to apply for a credit card. I ran around like a headless goose for proof of residence, and the bank wouldn't accept my affidavit from the police, nor would they accept my Absa form filled in by my husband (the metro accounts are in his name).
My 2decade long loyalty means having to prove I live in Durban (somehow)) before I can give them more business? Pathetic.
Absa is a private bank, not a government department. I expect dealing with them to be easier than renewing my drivers licence, not harder.
