Osing accounts and reassigning account numbe

I was the owner of business with a Standard bank account and an overdraft facility. I am not sure when I stopped using this account, but I was paying off the overdraft facility on a monthly basis, through a collection company. On the 10 July 2013, I transferred an amount of R 22000, 00 to the account for settlement. After emails to standard bank and lots of unanswered telephone calls I found out that the account was closed. Expecting the money to be returned to my account I waited a couple of days. I was then later informed that the account number had been given to a third party. Today I received an email stating that the third party had used the money and that I had to recover it from her. I was even supplied with a telephone number to contact the third party or make a case at a police station. I can understand that the account might be closed but how can you give someone else an account number I had been using and without notifying me? Now I must collect the money from the third party. Luckily I have emails and telephone records to show that I tried following up. I will be taking this matter further. Ridiculous!!!
