A few months ago I bought some merchandise from overseas. The company I bought it from went bankrupt before the goods entered the country. Nedbank customs department emailed me asking why the goods hadn't entered the country and that I was liable to be fined if I did not respond. I responded with the bankruptcy documents of the company in question - no reply from Nedbank. I subsequently received numerous emails identical to the first which I ignored having already replied.
Now, on the second of May I see an unsolicited deduction from my account. R106 - EOI query. It took me around 1 hour phoning Nedbanks helplines to fined out why this was - because according to them I was unresponsive on this customs matter and they had taken it upon themselves to fine me. No phone call, they went into my account and took money out. Wow.
Having finally discovered the problem, and explained I had already replied to these emails I was told the head of department, Shanaaz would phone me back that day to resolve the problem. She didn't - big surprise.
So Nedbank, I don't feel like a valued customer right now. I feel victimised by you. I feel like my money isn't safe in your institution.
