In 2009, I applied for my permanent residency permit, which after numerous phone calls and repeatedly supplying documents, was adjudication & approved in 2010. My first issue is that I was never informed, I found out by chance when I wanted to reapply this year.
The 2nd & more pressing issue is that I was then advised it's yet to be issued & that I need to keep going back to Soweto to check if it gets issued (I live in CT - have already paid for 1 flight to go & get told this). No one at the call centre seems to know what the hold up is either - not very helpful.
I have lived in SA (legally) since 1999, have been married to someone who is a permanent resident for over 5 yrs and have a 2 yr old daughter classified as a SA Citizen, have been a law abiding and Tax paying citizen in all of these yrs and am shocked and honestly highly upset at how numerous aspects of my life have been held back because of an irregularity like my paperwork being misplaced or needing to be reprinted.
How long does it take? & how difficult is it to get an accurate update? It seems as though no one knows anything other than "this matter is sitting at head office & 'no mam, there is no recourse'
