Department of Home Affairs
Spelling error on unabridged marriage certificate

In May 2012, we applied for our unabridged marriage certificate (1 month after wedding).

We received the document in August 2012...

However, my husband's surname was spelt RodAiguez Fraysse and not RodRiguez Fraysse... i.e. the 4th letter was an 'a' and not an 'r'.

We sent it back for rectification and we sit now in January 2013, still no correction!

The error was on the department's side as they misread the letter and did not check the supporting documentation (i.e. passport etc.) to verify the correct spelling.

I have phoned home affairs everyday since November 2012 and still no correction...

How long can it take to correct ONE LETTER that was their error in the first place?

This is an urgent application as we can apply for no visas or register our marriage in my husbands country!!
