I have been contacted by Caroline from Groenewald Lubbe Inc. regarding an outstanding credit card a few months back. I explained to her that the card has been settled in 2008. She then send me a statement on 04/04/2013 from FNB from 2009/11/26 with a Res Trasfr of R 15 992.67 thereafter interest and other cost was raised totaling R 34 637.98. I requested a detailed statement for before 2009/11/26 to investigate where that amount came from because as I mentioned this card was settled in 2008. Up to date I did not receive any correspondence except for the final notice on 24/05/2013 demanding payment or I will be listed at the Credit Bureaus.
I do not understand that I have not been contacted regarding this card for more than five years as my cell number has been the same for the last five years.
As your company should be aware, in terms of the Prescirption Act, a debt is deemded to have prescribed if its been 3 years since last payment and in that time i have not been summoned in respect of it.
