Following taking in my camera for a service, Nikon has stated that a piece of rubber which has become unglued from the right hand grip is wear and tear, and will not be covered by warranty. This rubber is now starting to stretch, which makes the weather sealing on the body useless, as water can now damage the electronics inside.
This is an absolute outrage that after having spent over R100 000 on buying gear, I am expected to pay for a repair to the camera (just over a year old) which is obviously caused by poor workmanship or materials choice and through no fault of my own.
The use of excuses such as "it was caused by hand cream, sunscreen or other cosmetics" is also absolutely unacceptable as this should be taken in to account by Nikon when choosing the materials for their cameras.
