Cracked Samsung S3 screen

I have had my S3 for about 6 months only. 2 months ago my phone gets a small crack on from a scratch on the screen and then the whole screen cracked yesterday. Samsung tells me that when the screen is cracked it is the whole screen (there is no piece of glass on top, it is one piece of screen) that needs to be replaced. I then google and do some research only to find out that they. When your screen is cracked and still working the piece of glass on top of the touch screen has cracked. So they want to charge me R2000 to replace the WHOLE screen when they only have to replace the glass. They will thus not see me with my next upgrade!
