On Saturday, 24/09/2013 at around 10am, my husband and I took my daughter for breakfast at Wimpy in Port Sheptone's Pick & Pay Centre.
We waited 45 mins for our food. 2 simple breakfasts and a waffle. The breakfasts were OK but the waffle tasted like there was no flour used - only baking powder. When we complained to Lydia (the waitress) about it, she just shrugged and said: "but it was made fresh" and walked away. We then asked another waitress to call the manager. The manager, Thembi, claimed that they were aware of the baking-powder situation with the waffles, but that they receive it already mixed from Wimpy and there is nothing they can do about it. Surely they should either not serve waffles if that is the case, and they should warn the customer that the batter is faulty as we would have gladly ordered something else. My main qualm is with the waitress who did not react in any way when we explained the situation to her and she just walked away like this is our problem now. Didn't Wimpy train their waitresses to remove the food and call the manager when customers have a complaint? And shouldn't they get rid of faulty batter? Thembi did give us a refund for the waffle.
