I am a steak lover and new to Cape Town so haven't really had the time to look for a good steak restaurant. Thinking Spur is always a good backup I went to Spur in Milnerton with my partner. I ordered a fillet steak, rare as usual. When the steak arrived I tapped it and it felt like jelly. There was so much blood in the plate that I could barely tell if there was sauce, hence bad steak that was not matured properly. Good thing I scraped the sauce off the top of the steak because it had RAW spots, on the OUTSIDE.
Naturally I sent it back. After waiting for at least 15mins (after telling them all it needs is a quick flame grill on the hottest grill they've got so that they don't cook it to medium) When I got it back the it was rock hard (keeping in mind I wanted it rare). Not only did they over do it, but they massacred it too. The fools butterflied my steak!!!
The manager then tells me that the kitchen is not her responsibility and calls the kitchen manager. A young zit-faced twerp comes to me, full of excuses and tries to convince me that this is how it should be done. He couldn't grill a steak if it hit him in the face!
How the does Spur employ such people??
