Outstanding Debt Policy

I bought a Toyota in 2011, before delivery Toyota Financial Services requested proof of comprehensive insurance which I gladly supplied. During October 2013 I requested permission to take my vehicle to Mozambique and they requested confirmation that it was still comprehensively insured. I supplied the info needed.

Today I received a letter that they added insurance to my monthly installment as they have not been able to ascertain if my vehicle is insured. They just added a policy without informing me or requesting proof of insurance and expect me to take it lying down. Their call centre told me that they would have contacted me before adding the policy. NONSENSE! They did not!

Now the onus is on me to prove that I have insurance, that's no problem I will fax them a copy of my policy. But why treat me like a criminal and assume that I have no insurance. Will Toyoyta please send me a copy of their logs to prove to me that they had indeed contacted me. They cannot and they therefore will not.

I find such behaviour by Toyota totally despicable.
