My Opel was involved in an accident on the 09 Nov. Insurance claim registered on the 11 Nov. The vehicle was collected on the 12 Nov. No communication from ABSA until I contacted the call centre on the 10 Dec to query status of the vehicle. Only then was I notified that the car was written off on the 14 Nov and moved from the panel beaters to Salvage Management Disposal. Apparently, the claim was assigned to a Senior Operator (Neville NAIDOO) on the 12 Nov who assigned an Assessor (Jaco FOURIE) who then declared the vehicle was a write-off on the 14 Nov. Neville finalised claim on the 26 Nov yet on 10 Dec I was still not informed of this decision. Call centre notified me that the person dealing with written off vehicles is Sithee NAIDOO from whom I requested the assessment report. I needed to know why car was written off. Her response to this was that she was not allowed to give me the report unless it is requested by my lawyer. I am now out of pocket, I do not have a car and I feel manipulated into buying or renting a new vehicle. This is NOT the type of behaviour I expected from a major Bank. I need some answers, I could have made alternative arrangements had I known sooner.
