So you find Travelstart on Facebook... They label themselves as a travel agency. You go to their site and think wow this looks good; You can compare flights and book all in one place. You find a cheap flight to your desired destination and before booking you spot their FLEXIBLE TICKET option:
"Upgrading to a flexible ticket allows you to make 2 FREE date changes to your booking, subject to same fare class availability and gives you the ability to enjoy greater freedom should something unforeseen happen."
FANTASTIC! It costs R799 but it seems worth it seeing as you know you will want to extend the return date. You fly to another country and once you figure out when you need to return, you send Travelstart an email with the request only to get a shocking reply:
Changing your return date will cost more than R20000 (Double the original ticket price) because the fare you purchased is for a 90day maximum stay and we have to follow the airline rules.
The problem: NOWHERE in the booking procedure or even after I paid was I informed or given access to the information regarding the maximum stay period. I am being held liable for their mistake and receiving dismissive unhelpful service.
