Please educate your client and clarify your policy

I bought a pair of stud earrings at the above mentioned branch. I was not totally sold on the earrings but thought seeing that its the last pair and its on sale let me buy it and see if i like it a few days later. I looked at it now and then and just could not decide if i want it. Being a person that's not stupid i obviously did not have it in my ears. I then decided i don't want them and on return to the Cape town branch (close to work) i am told they don't return it as per policy. i then decide to take it up with Vantage and read the policy it says "for hygiene reasons our exchange policy does not apply to "pierced" earrings etc" My understanding of pierced is when u have it pierced in store? this is misleading and not accurate. I also argue that if you have a strict policy then the cashier should inform at the point of sale and this cashier now says she informed me but i cant recall this, if i was informed i would not have purchased it as i was unsure . if i buy underwear at Mr price the cashier tells you before she scans it " are you aware that this cannot be returned etc" I am extremely unhappy and wont wear this grudge purchase
