In 2006 I bought a leather corner unit for approximately R10000, 00. It was sold as a leather unit imported from Italy. As there was no stock, we paid a deposit while the unit was ordered from Italy. At no stage were we told that this unit was from China and was a not leather but "bycast" product. We were informed of this "deception" only when we lodged the complaint a few weeks ago once the couch started peeling. I would not have bought a substandard product as we were only interested in a genuine leather article given the amount of money we spent. For us at the time it was a small fortune. Coricraft has been quite dismissive and has not taken the complaint seriously, and offered a discount on our next purchase. What an insult. No attempt has been made to inspect the defect, this item has been on display in our home and the "damage" is definitely not normal wear and tear. It's so bad that we feel like dumping it outside Coricraft's office. The veneer is peeling off in diff spots and the item is looking hideous. They refuse to take responsibility for a substandard product sold as leather. Let this be a warning to others who may be fooled by the perceived quality of Coricraft.
