I bought some biltong this morning that was hanging above the meat in the butchery section at Checkers Hyper in Constantia Kloof, Roodepoort. While I was eating it I noticed that a piece of fat started moving and then I realized that it was a worm by the way it moved. It was a short and thin, white worm about half a cm long. The biltong packet was air-tight but somehow the worm managed to survive in there because it was moving when I saw it.
I thought about taking it back but I don't expect the people who work there to care or even know what to do about worms in the food.
