Around two to three weeks ago I went to pick n pay and bought a basket filled with food. Of those items I would say the rice was edible. The poitjie mix was old and the patty pans were brown. I put the chicken drum sticks into my freezer and cooked them two days later.
When I had opened the cling wrap, the chicken was brown and smelled revolting. Nevertheless I decided to cook it and give it a try. Once fried and placed in the stir-fry, it still had that revolting smell.
The following morning, I was vomiting and had been food poisoned. Chicken is a white meat and should not smell or look like an off brown colour. The patty pans smelled too and were brown, about to rot.
It is appalling that Pick n Pay can keep and/or sell that standard of food and cause such illnesses. It is simply unacceptable.
