Terrible service!

I purchased a pair of pants yesterday at Truworths Westgate and paid cash using my Cheque Card. The pants were too short and went back today to return them with the price tag still intact and my purchase slip. I picked 2 other items that were more than double the price of the pants I was returning. I told the lady at the counter that I would like to switch the items and pay in the difference. Without explaining why, she requested my credit card. I refused to give it to her as it had nothing to do with my credit card. I gave her my Cheque card, the same one I used to purchase the pants. She proceeded to do a reversal for some reason instead of just crediting the new items. When my cell phone hadn't registered yet that the refund was done, I queried this. She then only told me that it would take 48 hours!?!? So I paid R640 for the new items and still have to wait 48 hours for my R320 refund! Ridiculous! Truworths didn't have to wait for my money, but me, the customer, needs to wait for it? The manager that was so NOT helpful explained that this is their policy! Truworths, you! That's the last time I will ever shop in your store!
