I am an expat living in the UK and bought a friend a wedding gift on the Edgars website. In order to do this, I had to give my personal email details etc. Since then I have received constant product updates, and spam mail from related parties. I have tried to unsubscribe through the link, but they require my ID number and other details in order for me to unsubscribe. In an age where identity is commonplace, I have absolutely no interest in providing my very personal details on a website. I have tried corresponding directly with their customer service team, and unfortunately got "the rules is the rules" response. They will not delete me from their server unless I give them my ID number. I think this is ridiculous, and actually borders on infringement on my civil rights and data protection (as I get random emails from other South African service providers). I must say that I will never set foot in another Edgars store again following the abysmal service I have received.
