UNFAIR PRACTISES!!

My sister went to Vertigo Greenacres Port Elizabeth to purchase me clothes, She wanted to do so as a surprise and she knows my size as I am a XXL shirts and Hoodies, but some clothing sizes differ so she purchased them and they did not fit me. I went the following day change the sizes and they told me they dont have anything beyond that size. So we asked for a cash refund and they told us that "No refunds or credit notes, no exchange on any promotional items. Exchanges are permitted within 10 business days of purchase "This is only given to you after you have payed for the items, written below your reciept, My question is why is this only given once you have paid, they did not even verbally tell my sister before she paid. Personally if I was told such I would never buy from such a shop if thats how they practise. I feel like I'v been forced into a contract without even being told or havnt even signed. Dont I have a right to such?? Now am left with clothes that were pricey and dont even fit me. They couldnt even suggest to maybe get me a special fit from another office atleast. Worst part of it all they told me an my sister that the policy only occurs at that Vertigo at the mall!
