No gloves worn in meat department

On Monday 27/05/13, I visited Food Lover's Market (Fruit and Veg City) in Somerset West. I was served at the meat counter by an employee that was not wearing any gloves. Whilst waiting in the queue, I counted a total of 5 employees that were in direct contact (ie touching) meat products with their hands, without wearing any gloves.

Is this part of the hygiene standards of Fruit and Veg City? - The meat counter not only contains beef and lamb, but there are also pork and chicken products too. If employees are touching all different meat products with their hands, there is also a chance of cross-contamination between meat products, besides the human hygiene question.

This is not meant to discredit the store in anyway, it is rather meant as a constructive criticism from a regular (and concerned) customer.

I would appreciate feedback on this.
