I have rented a place from Huurkor for two years, I have always paid my rent up to date and they never had any problems with me as a tenant. During the two years renting, not ONCE has anyone been there to 'inspect' or repair anything. I have asked for the place to be painted and they refused, I have requested for a shower (as the batch is extremely small)- they refused. There is no proper security either. I had to move due to the ridiculous rent increase-as a single mother, I found a smaller place at very short notice (as I cannot afford the new rental amount)-and had to give notice on the 5th of July.(rental for July was paid). I am now responsible for R324.00 due to Breach of Contract-which I agreed upon. Huurkor also now holds me responsible for the rent of August (which is exactly why I had to move as I cannot afford it). I have cleaned the place 'again'-after I had to leave work and take a domestic and paid her to clean the place, sent through the required documents i.e letter with by banking details (no idea why they needed this since they don't refund deposits) & letter stating that my Quest Meters account has been paid in full. Long story short, they are refusing to REFUND MY DEPOSIT!!!
