The Christmas Magazine 3rd Edition 2013 retails at R69.95 and sealed in a transparent bag. The Cover advertises recipes, shopping tips, holiday ideas, giving back, budgeting advice, crafts. festive facts, baking tips and OVER 197 perfect gift ideas.
Of 116 pages (including front and back covers) 38 pages of adverts, 42 pages of full pictures, ONLY 36 pages are of relevant information.
I do appreciate that for a magazine to survive it requires advertising to pay the bills. However, a magazine which only has 36 pages (out of 116 pages) of relevant information - more pictures, ads and less description (other readers might disagree and mention more) about Christmas ideas, it is very disappointing.
I agree it is hard to try and please everyone i.r.o. what to put in a magazine regarding Christmas. I would have appreciated the right to page through the magazine, to determine whether it met my requirements and perception of a Christmas magazine, before purchasing it.
Learnt my lesson. Never buy a magazine sealed with a Cover promising more than it delivered. Especially stating "Over 197 perfect gift ideas" - 95% were adverts.
