I travelled on the N2/R300 on Tuesday-night the 21st of January, hitting bricks in the darkness on the road, which damaged my car. I reported it to the SAPS and Sanral, with quoted claims for repair. Sanral referred me to MD Civils, a Mr. Harold Martin. Mr. Martin blamed the criminals responsible. The fact is there was no lighting in the area, which I believe is their responsibility. When pointed it out to him, he told me the cables got regularly. Sorry, not my problem. Me and my family's life were at stake, and so is the lives of many others. There is ways of securing these cables. Mr Martin was not very helpfull and told me to rather claim my damages from my insurance, and that such a claim against MD Civils might take a long time to process.
I am a taxpayer and Sanral/ MD Civils have an obligation to keep the roads safe at all costs. What if it were your family?
Funny that the lights on these roads is more often on by day and off at night...?!
