I entered to run the Tough One but was not able to collect my race number on the Saturday prior to the race. I called the Rand Athletic Club and spoke to Penny. She told me I could go past the Old Parktonian on the Friday afternoon while they were setting up, and although I may have to wait, somebody would be able to assist me.
So I went through on the Friday afternoon and Penny abruptly told me I was interrupting her. I told her that I had spoken to her earlier in the week, but she was unwilling to assist me.
Another women found my race number. She literally had to walk to a box marked "Denel" and look through a few envelopes - it took less than 5 minutes. She continually hurled sarcastic comments at me and was exceptionally rude and disrespectful.
I would PERHAPS have expected this kind of treatment if I had shown up unexpectedly, but considering that I had the courtesy to call beforehand, I find this kind of behaviour totally unacceptable.
