Life Healthcare
Is this a Private or a Public Hospital

My 4month premature daughter, weighing only 4.2kg was admitted in this hospital on 03 - 06 July 2013 for fever. Our stay was like watching a horror movie.

She was put in the same ward with 3 older kids who had diarheoa & 1 who had TB. Facilities are in a horrible state. All kids had to share about 4 bathtubs with no sanitiser or disinfectant. About 12 mothers have to use only 1 stinking & dirty bath. all these things looks like they were bought 20 years ago! The sluice room made my tummy turns

There is no baby scale. To get the weight, the mother must stand on the scale with baby, climb back again after putting the baby down. Then the nurse will substract. As a result they said she weighed 5.1kg. I actually requested a transfer to Netcare when Sr Dubazane moved us to a private ward when she realised that a tiny baby was in the ward with older children with infectious diseases.

The attitude & communication of the nursing staff leaves a lot to be desired. Nomnotho was worse, despite her bad attitude she made anti-diarheoa solutions for my daughter using unboiled tap water. She kept on giving her panado whereas the Dr stated clearly hat it was to be given when necessary.
