I enrolled my son for the Kumon programme, immediately I was asked to sign a debit order, to which I disagreed but was eventually pressurized into.
Grade eight's exams proved to be very challenging and he didn't have enough time to attend Kumon as well as all the exams at school. I tried for a month to take the work home, which was also not working so then my husband gave notice that our son will not attend Kumon any longer. He was not told that he has to give the notice in writing, so Kumon Sandton decided to bill us for two more months. In total, my son did not attend for three months for which I had to pay. When I brought it to Dorrit and Tessa's attention, they were not interested. To them the debit order was of most importance. I believe that if it was about the child and empowering children, they would have noticed that my son is not attending and would have suggested either an alternative or a break until his exams are finished, but at Kumon Sandton things are not about the child.
