I purchased a Polo GTI last year and at the time I was going to buy a cheaper car. With all the extra options, I decided to rather get the Polo GTI. I requested extras like sunroof and Bi-Xenon headlamps. At the time of the purchase the GTI's at the dealership only had stock with the extras except the BI-Xenon headlamps.
To wait for another Polo would have been an extra three months which was not an option for me as I needed a car straight away.
I enquired with the technical department and I was told that this was not a problem and I could always fit the headlights at a later stage. So i went ahead and purchased the car.
I now want to fit the Bi-Xenon headlights to my GTI and called dealerships to find out pricing and was shocked to hear that I would need to fork out R40k for parts (without fitment) to fit these headlights that costs R8500 as an optional extra when buying the car. Apparently I would need a brand new ECU body computer and other parts to be able to have my GTI fitted with these headlights. I couldn't believe what I was hearing!
I feel that I've been and cheated and now I can't afford to fit the lights I've wanted since the start!
Makes me never want a VW!
