Fitz Auctioneers
Odometer tampering, vehicle written off

I bought a vehicle from John Pillay, owner of Fitz Auctioneers at 368 Commissioner Street Jhb. He is not an auctioneer, but a second hand motor dealer. His company invoice shows he is registered as a CC, but in fact he is not registered as a CC, so firstly his invoice is incorrect. At the time of my purchasing the vehicle, there was 80461km on the odometer. I asked John if the vehicle had been in any serious accidents and he assured me it had not. I requested a service history which he promised to get me but never did. I purchased the vehicle cash and requested a service history from Toyota, and was shocked to discover that at the last service 5 months prior to my purchasing the vehicle, the odometer reaing was 210 988km. I contacted the previous owners who's details appeared on the service history and they confirmed the high milage, and also said the vehicle was written off in an accident soon after that service. They were insured by Santam who sold the vehicle to Bonerts for scrap, who in turn sold it to a business associate of John's who happens to run his business on the same premisis as John Pillay. John refuses to refund my money, and avoids all our calls.
