The Debonair's branch in Broadway in Durban North was contacted for an order of 2 large vegetarian pizzas at about 18h15 on Sunday, March10, 2013. As we were abstaining from meat on the day due to religious reasons, the order was specifically requested for a vegetarian dish. The person who received the call at Debonairs was Constance and she explained that there were 4 free Poppers with the order. It was again specified that we were abstaining and that we need those to be vegetarian as well. We arrived to collect the pizzas and placed an additional order for another 4 Poppers, again confirming that they should be vegetarian. We arrived at home and 4 Poppers were in the pizza box as part of the promotional offer and the additional Poppers were packed separately. We discovered during the course of the meal that 1 Popper, which was in the pizza box, contained ham. Aside from the fact that we had clearly indicated that we were abstaining from meat, we do not consume pork.
It is quite shocking that Debonairs places no regard for their consumers requirements and that this was not checked properly. I want to know what will be done and what the consequence is for the staff that did this?
