We went to the Spur in Kenilworth Centre for our post NYE breakfast brunch. An American friend (I'm South African) and I each ordered the new Philly Cheese Steak off the menu, which he told me was a really popular meal in the States and was quite a hunger buster. This is a R74.90 meal. Not only did it take an hour to arrive, it had no onions mixed in, and no sauce, just strips of beef and cheese. Plus it was about the size of a children's party hot dog roll (I could've made this at home for much, much less). It was also incredibly bland. I asked the manager if there was a mistake and he didn't offer to change it so we paid and left. Spur really needs to rethink the quality of their meals, things seem to have changed recently and it comes across as fast food now instead of family food. Very disappointed in the quality of your new menu items and someone should chat to whoever creates your meals. I said the same to the manager but I don't know if he'll actually log a report. Where's that awesome South African flavour, guys? I miss going to Spur and feeling treated.
