On Monday evening 23 Sep 2013, my family of four were on route to Spur in Canal Walk when we decided to rather try out the Fresh Fish option at John Dory's. They had a new kids play and it seemed pleasant. Overall the staff were great, awesome service from Leonard, Frank and Sheree. Unfortunately, the food was not good at all. The sauces that are were provided on the mussels tasted as if it came out of a mix a sauce pack. Honestly, fresh mussels smothered in a disgusting sauce... get real. Grilled calamari that tasted as if it was boiled and then sprinkled with fish spice. Is it really that difficult to make a butter garlic sauce in the kitchen. And grilling tube calamari should tasted grilled not boiled. R125 for Kingklip and chips, that is top end restaurant prices, not prices for a franchise family fish joint. Kids portion of calamari and chips and a half a glass of fizzy cooldrink (no juice on the menu) R50... No wonder the place is always empty, over priced food without the quality. I can only comment positively on the staff the staff, I hope you will be able to keep them, but bring them patrons. We ended up at CTF across the way for fresh fish meals for 2 at R120.00...
