New credit card set to arrive last day of month

Standard Bank's disdain for its customers never fails to disappoint.

My Std Bnk Mastercard (a humble blue one) expires 31 March 2013. On Jan 3, I got an SMS asking where I'd like my new card delivered. I responded immediately, impressed.

I use my card mainly for paying monthly internet fees so have to keep card details current. In mid-March, I called at the bank, but no card. I was put through to Mastercard, who told me "the system" had not yet ordered my card.

On Monday March 25 I phoned and spoke to Teboho, who said there'd been a delay with the issue of new cars and mine would only be at my branch on Thursday - i.e. the day before the Easter W/E and last working day of the month.

Told him I was going away on Thurs so could not collect the card. Could they not courier it - not my fault after all?

Said he'd find out and ring me back, which he did, saying the person in charge couldn't help me. Explained I had to update card info online before end of month, so asked to at least give me the new expiry date. He promised to phone me the next morning, but still waiting.

So plans to go away ditched as will have to collect card on Thursday. Thanks a lot. Lucky not going overseas.
