First National Bank
BAD SERVICE FROM FNB

In December 2011, I deposited R55 000, 00 from my FNB business account to the wrong Capitec account. I immediately sent an sms to the Capitec account holder, notifying him of that error and also to warn him not to use the funds. I subsequently contacted FNB to reverse the funds, but I was told to follow the reversal request procedure which I did. I then contacted Capitec with the same request for reversal of the funds, at Capitec I was referred to the Interbank office in Cape Town. There, I was told they can't help unless they get their client to confirm telephonically that funds are not his, alternatively I should get the court order that will instruct the bank to reverse the funds. The only help they gave me at that moment was to freeze the funds. The owner of the account was never co-operative from the first day. He is aware of this mistake Even the bank never got his co-operation. He (The account holder) has relocated to an unknown place that makes it even more difficult. The court order is too expensive for my affordability therefore I could not afford it.
Capitec Bank has clearly realized that their account holder knows nothing about these funds, because of his lark of coope
