I have arranged for my RCP account to be paid in a manner that I will be able to afford, following which STD bank decided to take debit orders for as much as they wanted, whenever they wanted, leaving me without any money. I have since requested that they stop the debit order and allow me to pay maually, they claim not to be able to stop a debit order on a RCP account. This in itself is illegal. Since this fight started, I have been billed thousands in bounced debit order fees (since I have moved my salary payments to another bank to avoid STD bank my money) which I refuse to pay on the principle of it. How can they claim to not be able to stop a debit order, but they can allow bounced charges to throw my account thousands over the overdraft limit?!
The debit order amounts are R75 and R175 every week. Both bounce EVERY WEEK and I am charged R115 PER DEBIT ORDER (Why the bank doesn't make only 1 debit order in the first place boggles my mind). I'm paying R230 PER WEEK for STD bank's incompetence. I will be taking this further if it is not resolved by the end of this week.
