Today I phoned FNB to try and get them to stop sending me spam about promotions and prizes that I can win (why is a bank doing that anyway?). I was told that if I am getting these SMSes, it is because I agreed to this when I signed up for E-Bucks. Now here is the thing - I cancelled my credit card with FNB, and thus cancelled the E-Bucks. So theoretically I don't have an agreement with them anymore to send me spam.
So in the call centre they asked me for my Credit Card number. I don't have the number, because I cancelled it. So because I don't have a card, and they can only authenticate me through my card, they cannot update my profile. So what they want me to do is go into the branch and do the cancellation.
I even spoke to a supervisor person, and he was also unable to do anything. I spoke to Sibosiswe Sibanyani and Bongi Meek.
As far as I am concerned FNB is breaking the law here. They have not provided me with a simple way to stop spam. And now they want me to go into the branch to do this. Who can I send the invoice to?
