Handed over for account I do not have

I received a call from VVM today stating that I have been handed over for my Homechoice account. I do not have a Homechoice account. I have been advised by VVM to go to my local police station to get an afidavid stating that I did not have a Homechoice account. I feel this is unfair. I called Homechoice. They can supply no documentation as proof that I have an existing account. According to them I opened the account on the web. The ref nr for the supposed account is 250816299. VVM supplied me with the amount: R4444.38 but cannot fax or email me the account statement. How can this be legal if they cannot supply me with a statement or any proof.
