My mother has been at the Linksfield Clinic since 15/01/2014. In five days, the incompetent staff nurses have managed to bruise and batter her arms so badly in attempts to administer IV lines that she appears to have been in an accident.
The matron has been called TWICE to the ward because of this issue. Profuse apologies ensued both times, and right after the matron leaves, again a staff nurse equipped with a needle and blatant ineptitude arrives to poke and prod and spill blood everywhere. How is it possible that a PRIVATE HOSPITAL has only staff nurses available in a ward AND NOT ONE EFFICIENT REGISTERED NURSE TO PUT UP AN IV LINE??
The management at Netcare take it upon themselves to hire staff without providing training in something as basic as inserting an IV line. forbid a life threatening emergency should occur. Whether it's incapability, lack of training or the attitude of general apathy, these people are dealing with the LIVES of patients on a daily basis. This level of 'service' in something as detrimental as the health care industry is heinous and absolutely not acceptable. Netcare disgusts me, I would avoid the Linksfield hospital at all costs.
