I found out today that a year after I closed my account, ABSA has been processing debit orders against the account.
ABSA has confirmed the account has been closed for a year.
The third party has confirmed that they send the debit order to ABSA and that ABSA paid over the money to them.
How did I find out about this you may ask. ABSA gave me a call to find out why I was not paying the outstanding balance on my account. The account that they then confirmed is in fact closed and when it was closed has no outstanding balance.
As a side note, this has been happening for a year and not once during that time did ABSA ever realise that the account is closed, they just kept paying. No statement to me, nothing.
