If you pay cash on your account you can't upgrade

I was at Cell C in Mimosa Mall Bloemfontein today, to upgrade my contract. I received very good service from the staff members. Everything was finalized in minutes, but then it showed my account is pre-legal. When they phoned head office, they said its because I'm paying by cash/EFT and not debit order. I have asked them numerous times to change the date to the 5th of each month, because we get paid between the 1st and 3rd of each month. Just because the debit order did not go of on the 31st and I paid it in on the 2nd, that is why i have to wait 3 months to upgrade. The guy on the telephone told me its fine I can change providers. Is this how Cell C operates? They get their money, even if I pay it in, its still in their account.
