South African Breweries
Deadly Driving Behaviou

In October 1991 my eldest sister lost her husband due to the negligent driving of a driver of a SA Breweries truck. His brother also died along with a friend in that car and a mother and father were robbed of their only 2 children in the prime of their lives. This traumatic event still haunts us today and on Friday I learnt that the company has dones nothing to address this after nearly being killed myself on Joe Slovo drive near Ellis Park.
A huge SA Breweries truck decided that, while we were waiting to go straight at the red robot, that the left hand turn only lane would suit him fine to push in with this huge lumbering truck. Also, the speed at which he entered the intersection and the fact that the robot had barely changed suggests that had the robot still been red there is no way he would have been able to stop. He then proceeded to push his way into the middle lane and very nearly went straight over my car killing me. A number of cars, stunned at this blatant recklessness hooted at the truck driver and he just proceeded to hoot back at us. When I looked into the cab on the passenger side the gentlemen I could see was laughing his head off at me. all the wounds have reopened.
