I was in Elspark high quite a few years back, I am now turning 21 and I would like to have the chance of explaining my BAD experience.
It all started with me not being Afrikaans, a lot of the children and teachers included always mocked me whenever I read out loud, or even made a spelling error. The English school close to where Elspark is was sadly too full to accept any new learner, and so I had no option but to get enrolled in Elspark in order for me to finish my Education.
I ignored the mocking, I hardly spoke to people and continued to try my best. I attended after classes most days when I was able to and started studying as the work came so that I am prepared for my exams which was also no good. Being in an English school all my life and suddenly changing it to Afrikaans was not an easy task - which the teachers felt no empathy for. Instead of being helped I got looked down on, the only, ONLY teacher who helped me with my subject was the Bio teacher. She was one amazing woman compared to the rest. I too, am not a religious person, therefore most teachers cast me out, and sometimes even asked me to leave the classroom and treated me with utter disgust.
A year and a half of this pathetic treatment I had had my fair deal. I exploded and got banned from the school permanently by the Principal. I left school entirely for the fear of undergoing such a thing once more.
I phoned in to get my grade 9 report (to which the principal had told my mother and I that he will pass me but I need to leave). I spoke to the admin ladies in order to get this report this morning in order to enroll in college so that I can do the rest of my grades done to which she was rude and incompetent - therefore she told me indirectly that she has no time to scan a report through (and will "CONTACT ME" when she is able to but she does not know when".
I am in dying need to get my grades done but without a second round of no help - how am I suppose to get an education?
