Off-line card machines make it customer's problem!

On Saturday, 16 Feb, I booked a movie on-line. I arrived in time to collect my tickets and buy popcorn. Having arrived at the counter I was informed that I was unable to pay with my card as the machines at Ster-Kinekor were down. I did not have cash on me and had not eaten all day, so promptly left the queue, rushed up to Vida e Cafe and bought a muffin and iced coffee. I did not have time to go to the banking hall and then wait in the queue for food again as the movie was about to start. On re-entering the cinema area I was told that I could not take externally purchased food into the movie. The manager was called and he re-iterated the same point, not budging. What I fail to understand is why, in South Africa, people seem to be trained to follow certain rules but are unable to think outside of the box and adjust their mindsets. In this instance, the issue lay with the cinema, but the customer suffered. I am aware that cinemas make most of their money from the sale of in-house food and drinks. I do, however, believe that an exception should have been made. There were others around me who also had no cash, it's a modern world out there!!! Very poor customer service!!!
