Unfair termination of service

I upgraded my service from DSTV Lite to DSTV family. They informed me that the month end of Nov I will pay an extra amount added to my October payment to cover for the Family pack. Note that I pay via debit order. Upon realizing that the Family package doesn't cover for the channel I wanted' I phoned them to down grade. They down graded the service without telling me that they will disconnect. Funny enough I already paid for my Lite package in Oct. so why can't they deduct their funds at the end of Nov as they were gonna do as I upgraded? I have no service now, which I payed for.
