If you are excited about home renovations, please avoid Shorea Carpentry. This has been a long and tiresome experience for us. We paid Gustav Hoekstra R25, 000 in January 2012 as an upfront payment for the supply and installation of 3 wooden windows and 1 large foldback wooden sliding door.By October we were tired of all the excuses and just wanted the doors done even if it would cost us extra. Gustav agreed that if we paid the supplier directly (because we didn't trust giving him any more money) he would supply the labour to install the doors. So we paid out another R10, 000.
By January, after a lot of fighting he finally came and installed the windows. This job is still incomplete and of a very bad quality, he has been promising to come and complete the job but to no avail.
We have had stories of his mom dying, being mugged coming back from the bank and having all his cash, to being taken for a ride by one of his clients!!!
On asking him what he has done with our money, he has said that he did not it, as he is not a, it has just disappeared!
